Course Tools Menu

When viewing a class the Portfolio Tools menu will change to the Course Tools menu.
 

 

Viewing the Table of Contents

In the Course Tools menu, select Table of Contents to return to the Table of Contents window for the class.

Searching a Class
Complete the following steps to search the text of a class:
 
 
  1. In the Class Tools menu, select Search this Class to see a search dialog box.
  2. Type the word you want to search for in the text box.
  3. Click the OK button to see a list of the pages in the class where the word appears.
  4. Click the name of any page to go to that page.
Setting Course Preferences
Complete the following steps to set the page Course Insite® shows when you enter this class:
 
 
  1. In the Course Tools menu, select Course Preferences to go to open the Course Preferences page in a separate window.
  2. Select any of the following options from the drop-down list:
    • always go to the table of contents
    • always go to the last page I read
    • go to my bookmark, if it's set
  3. Click the OK button to set your preference.
Viewing the Course Glossary
 
In the Course Tools menu, select Glossary to open a page of glossary terms that specifically relate to the current class in a separate window.
 
 
Using the Memo Pad (If enabled)
In the Course Tools menu, select Memo Pad to take personal notes during the class, see the Using the Memo Pad topic for more details.
 
 
Viewing the Course Links
In the Course Tools menu, select Course Links to see a list of links to other sites containing information related to this class.
 
 
Viewing the Course FAQs
In the Course Tools menu, select FAQs to see the Frequently Asked Questionsfor this class. 
Viewing the Author Biography

In the Course Tools menu, select About the Author to see biographical information on the course author or presenter.

Access Conference (If enabled)

In the Course Tools menu, select Conference to access an online bulletin board where users can post discussions on various topics, or chat in real time with other users.

Printing a Course Page (If enabled)

Your class administrator can allow or disallow priting of the class content. Complete the following steps to print a class page:

  1. In the Course Tools menu, select Print Page to open a printable version of the page content in a new window.
  2. In that window, use your browser's print feature to print the window.
  3. When your browser finishes printing, close the new window.
Printing a Course Sub-Module (If enabled)

Your class administrator can allow or disallow priting of the class content. Complete the following steps to print an entire sub-module of your class:

  1. In the Course Tools menu, select Print Sub-Module to open a printable version of the entire sub-module in a new window.

    Note: Course Insite® puts all the pages of the sub-module together on this single page.

  2. In that window, use your browser's print feature to print the window.
  3. When your browser finishes printing, close the new window.
Taking a Test
In the Course Tools menus, select Take a Test to begin the testing process for the current class. See the Taking a Test topic for more information on how to complete a class.
 
 
Taking a Survey
In the Course Tools menus, select Take a Survey to take a survey about the class. A survey is not a test on class content and does not effect your grade. Administrators can use surveys to get feedback on the class.
