Using Your Learning Plan

Once you have subscribed to a Learning Plan, CourseInsite's® Your Class Portfolio home page will track your completed coursework against the requirements of the Plan. Once you have completed a course requirement, the credits will be logged in your Learning Plan, where you can monitor your progress throughout your course of study.

Viewing your Learning Plan
To view your Learning Plans, open the 'Student Tools' menu at the top of the CourseInsite's® Your Class Portfolio home page. Choose the 'Learning Plan Library' option from the menu. Any Learning Plans you have subscribed to will appear in a list. To view a particular Learning Plan, simply click on its name.

The Components of a Learning Plan

Each row of information in your Learning Plan shows one requirement. A requirement can be for a particular course, or for a category of courses. Below is a description of the types of information used in describing a requirement.

Status. When you first subscribe to a Plan, the status will be 'in progress'. Once you have completed the requirement, the status will change to 'completed'.

Requirement. This is the name of the course or course category that is required.

Credits. The number of CE and GT Credits required.

Criteria. Their are two kinds of criteria that can go into a requirement. The first is the date by which you must complete the requirement. The second is the Class Criteria, or what kind of class you need to take to fulfill the requirement.

For the Date, there are three possibilities:

  • Date Relative to Activation. This means the required completion date is relative to the date when you subscribe to the Learning Plan. The clock starts 'ticking' when you subscribe to the plan, and you will have a set number of days after that to fulfill the requirement.
  • Absolute Date Range. This is the simplest. It means you must complete the requirement between a specific start and end date.
  • Dates from Student. This allows you the flexibility to meet the requirement by a date that you determine.

For the Class Criteria, there are also three possibilities:

  • By Course. Requires that you complete a single, specific course.
  • By Course Category. Requires that you complete a course or courses from a category of courses.
  • By Group. Requires that you complete a course or courses from a group.
